Cans Festival II: Distinguished, Rushed Comedy since 2018

April 19, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm

FB event: https://www.facebook.com/events/2571230696223924/

Cans Festival is BACK. Cans Festival II will feature six brand-new shows created by world-class comedians in less than a week based on you the internet’s bullshitty suggestions. It’s just like Cannes…in name only.

These stage productions will debut in back-to-back prestige events on Friday April 19th: the 7:30pm Opening Gala and the 9:30pm Closing Gala & Awards Show.

Sponsored and Co-Presented by the fine folks at Steamworks Brewing, this festival forces a stellar list of exceptional comedians trying to satisfy boorish creative demands chosen by you via voting below. Read on for details on how to vote on what criteria you want the creators to submit to!

As with any world-class festival, this festival will feature reviews, awards (including Audience Choice, Sponsor’s Choice, Critics Choice) and general pompousness.

Each creative team must respond to challenges provided by the people. Until April 12, YOU are invited to vote on what title, catchphrases, themes, and other material each show must include/feature. To vote, simply register your ideas and opinions in the polls included below!

All votes will be tabulated, and creators will be notified what their shows must include exactly one week before they debut. Vote now! Vote often.

A dream team list of creators is not fooling in any way. Each of these artistic leaders will produce a 20 minute show to debut at Cans:

Pippa Mackie and Tom Hill
Stephanie Mills
Ryan Beil & Mark Chavez
Brunch Comedy
Stacey McLachlan & Jordan Potter
Ronald Dario & Patrick Dodd

As with any self-respecting artistic festival, at Cans, critical reception is everything. Cans Festival will feature six independent, critical, probably quite mean reviewers responding to each new debut. These reviewers will be announced in the days leading up to Cans, but rest assured they will be comedians or journalists with extensive to zero experience.

What is a festival if not focused on awards. Awards will be presented as voted on by you the audience, the reviewers, and the artists themselves, in the 9:30pm gala. The voting on these awards will be a combination of carefully tabulated and deeply corrupt.

Cans Festival is graciously sponsored and supported by Steamworks Brewing. Steamworks has been brewing world-class beers in Vancouver since 1995, and has been the founding sponsor of Cans Festival since its debut in 2018. Steamworks products are the official beer of Cans Festival, and available at fine establishments near you.
