In 2016, Little Mountain Gallery filled a gap in the Vancouver comedy scene: there was nowhere affordable, accessible and professionally equipped for independent artists to produce their own work.
We operate two performance spaces in Gastown and organize up to 24 shows a week — stand-up, improv, sketch, and alternative stuff you won't see anywhere else. We are 100% community-programmed, which means the people on our stages are also the people who take home the ticket revenue.
As an independent not-for-profit, every dollar we earn goes back into keeping the space open, keeping the rent affordable for independent producers and keeping ticket prices accessible for audiences.

Our shows are the biggest part of what we do, but we also try to go beyond filling seats. Here's what your support helps us do:
We offer discounted and free rentals to producers facing financial barriers, particularly emerging artists and those from equity-deserving communities. In 2025, we subsidized 84 bookings and waived 14% of rental revenue to keep our space accessible.
We developed our own original stand-up curriculum from scratch, now in its third year. Classes are priced at cost to minimize barriers. Applications try to prioritize participants identifing as members of equity-deserving communities.
Learn moreOur annual mini comedy festival commissions and pays artists to create brand-new comedy formats. Three nights of alternative, experimental, and indie comedy, with artists paid to develop and premiere original work.
See the festivalWe piloted a structured mentorship program for early-career comedians in 2024 and have now received funding from teh City of Vancouver and BC Arts Council to create a full Comedy Creation Residency program, pairing emerging comedians from underrepresented communities with professional mentors through a paid eight-week development cycle.
Learn moreIn 2025, LMG donated $10,000 in combined ticket value and direct financial support to community organizations including United Way BC's Kapwa Fund, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, the Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards, Full Circle: First Nations, and more.
We're building the infrastructure to offer more digital access to independent producers and their shows year-round. Professional live-streaming and recording equipment is included in every rental. Our annual fundraiser is broadcast for free online to raise money for LMG and a community charity.
24 Hours of Stand-Up 2026

Little Mountain Gallery plays a vital role in Vancouver's comedy ecosystem as a high-volume, community-driven venue that supports independent producers and emerging artists. Its model of accessible space and consistent programming has contributed significantly to the development of new comedic voices in the region.
LMG occupies a distinctive position in Vancouver's performing arts landscape. As a high-volume, year-round venue dedicated entirely to independent artists and community-based programming, they fill a gap that few organizations in this city address. Their model — accessible, artist-centered, professionally run — creates conditions for artists who might not otherwise find a pathway into professional presentation.
Comedy in Vancouver has a large and active community. What it has lacked is the organizational infrastructure that other disciplines take for granted. That's what we're trying to build at LMG.
